First night out last night meeting some fellow MBAs. Good time for sure and they get easier as you meet more people. It was also our first experience (in a while) drink cheap beer. As newly poor students, we opted for the "special" which was american drafts for $1.25. I had Miller Lite, B had Michelob Ultra...basically we each had a water and beer mix. Anyway, pretty excited to start things tomorrow...

I will compile a list of textbooks and cost soon so you can see it is still expensive or text books. Went to one of the off campus stores yesterday and was amazed by the skyscrapers of books. Coming from an undergrad school (predominantly science based) of 4,000, I was amazed to see all the books for a general institution with 35,000 students. They read a lot of books.

Books are expensive. Bought my last one today (it is new) for "only" $135. We are finding a lot to do around town. The last two days we played tennis at a park about 5 minutes away. There is a lot to do around our place which is great. Within 3 miles we have: two rail trails, golf driving range, two large parks (one with a pool), Kroger, Wonder Bread "factory store" (good for cheap bread), post office, lots of sidewalks for the dog, doggie day care (2 min walk).

Things start on Wedensday with jump start classes. I am in class Thursday and Friday from 8-6.15 (break from noon-3). It is really here.

Washer now works! Next problem is trying to hang curtain rods in the bedroom...seems like drywall on brick as the screws go in about 2". Ugh.

Hot, hot day today.

Never get glasses at Pearle Vision.

Ever connect a washer completely, run it, and have the outlet hose come off? Lots of water goes everywhere. That happened tonight.

Bought a W/D set today and they both work fine, we just have water all over the place in the laundry room. All better now and a fan is drying it out. Will try again tomorrow.

Had a treat again from Bruster's (web site) our favorite treat place. Black Raspberry freeze for B (sherbert and sprite) and a Coffee Stir for me (coffee, vanilla ice cream, seltzer). So good.

unpacking is almost done. bad news yesterday that there is no DSL service here...why did they not tell me that a month ago??? jersey's first day at day care today...we can watch him on a doggy cam. not much else, it is hot and we are building our nest slowly but surely. Off for a run on one of the rail trails near our house.

Arrived in Bloomington this evening. Long, long ride over the past few days. Saturday we had a great time at the Hoag's party..it was sad to leave and start the journey, but off we went. First stop on the tour was Springfield, MA where we spent the night with Brenna's Aunt and Uncle. it was great to spend some time with them. Next morning it was off to Buffalo...it was so hot on the way we had the A/C on high and Jersey was still just panting up a storm. We rolled the dice at one point and almost ran out of gas. got to Keith's around 5 and hung out, ate a great homemade pasta meal, fed the horses, watched Jersey play. this morning we left at 9 and got here at 6 local time (7 eastern). 10 hours, but we are done. The final mileage is just shy of 1,100 from the Hoag's place. tomorrow we paint and take Jersey for a long walk so he can mark some territory. more coming soon!

Beach to Beacon 2003

Ran the Beach to Beacon road race this morning and finished just under 45 minutes. Not bad for not really training. Friends Tom, Peter, Chris and Matt all finished well ahead of me. Overcast day to start the first leg of our journey to Springfield, MA tonight. On to Buffalo tomorrow.
